Oscar, Emmy and BAFTA award-winning Visual Effects house Framestore is looking for a talented and focused Assistant Technical Director (ATD) to join our Los Angeles Studio team. The ATDs work closely with members of our senior creative team, the Head of CG and 2D to maintain while consistently improving our VFX workflow. They are responsible for writing, maintaining, and configuring workflow tools for use on the variety of high-end visual effects projects we produce within our Integrated Advertising division. This is an entry level position aimed at technically minded individuals looking to break into the world of visual effects
Framestore staff have the option to split their work time between home and the office, though some office attendance will be expected for certain team meetings, so the candidate will need to be able to commute into Culver City easily.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and support pipeline and workflow tools including troubleshooting and optimisation
Provide direct technical assistance to creative departments; i.e. Animation, Compositing, FX, etc.
Configure existing pipeline workflow tools for specific production needs
Assist with technical production tasks
Collaborate with artists to create tools to improve workflow
Thorough documentation of all development and updating as necessary
Collaborate with Pipeline Technical Directors by providing feedback and suggesting improvements to further inhouse softwares
Good knowledge of scripting Python
Familiarity with a variety of commercial graphics applications such as Maya, Nuke, or Houdini
Excellent problem solving abilities
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
A passion and curiosity for advancements in computer graphics technology, from visual effects, to software, or video games.
Desired Skills:
Working knowledge of Linux
Previous experience of shell scripting
An understanding of colorspace
A broad understanding of the visual effects process, from shooting through to compositing is an advantage
