Facilities Technician

Job description

Under the supervision of the Head of Facilities, the Facilities Technician is responsible for:

Requests

  • Provide daily internal customer support services (action/work order requests, HVAC controls, office space planning/moves, maintenance service coordination, security access, etc);

  • Reviews assigned work orders.

  • Responds to requests via the ticketing system.

  • Ensures compliance with deadlines and timely completion of assigned work requests.

  • Prioritize the necessary interventions efficiently.

  • Relocate office equipment when required

  • Responsible for troubleshooting heating and cooling systems

  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

  • Offer help with any task that requires physical effort;

Maintenance

  • Carries out equipment maintenance and inspection programs under his responsibility (drains, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, detectors, safety alarms, cameras, card readers, doors locks, appliances etc.)

  • As needed, aid in daily interior trash removal, facility cleaning, and restocking

  • Complete any general building maintenance task required (painting, cracks in the walls/floor, minor interventions in plumbing/electricity, etc.)

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

  • Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.

  • Follows up with service providers as needed to ensure a timely completion.

  • Handle the communication and onsite meetings with subcontractors for any repair or maintenance task that require a specialized intervention.

  • Inspect the common areas, offices, on a daily basis to identify the needs for repair and maintenance.

Inventory

  • Participates in equipment purchasing / receptions and manages the inventory of furniture, bulbs, carpet tiles, locks, keys, equipment and tools required for the proper functioning of the work related to its functions (orders, follow-up, etc.).

  • Participates in the creation and management of controlled keys.

  • Maintain accurate records for assets, furniture, appliances, maintenance logs and preventive maintenance program

Health & Safety

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  • Understand emergency management, preparedness and response procedures;

Lifting/Tools

  • Perform general duties such as, manual lifting, moving product and inventory, sorting material manually;

  • Have the ability to lift 25kg or 55 pounds.

  • Operating small pallets trucks, dollies, moving straps, freight elevator, and order picking and moving furniture/equipment in a safe and controlled manner

Job requirements

Skills and Requirements:

  • Valid driver's licence 

  • English language spoken and written: intermediate level;

  • French language spoken and written: intermediate level;

  • Apply the rules in force in terms of health and safety at work;

  • Professional integrity;

  • Sustained performance under pressure;

  • Minimum skills in technology;

  • Proactivity in solving problems;

  • Availability to work, from time to time, evenings and weekends;

  • Carry out work / repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible;
