Framestore is looking for an FX Supervisor to join the Film & Episodic team to oversee multiple teams of FX TDs to supply FX for feature films.
Manage and lead multiple FX Leads and their teams of FX TDs, in the creation of FX material for film projects.
Work with VFX Supervisors to define effects concepts, designs and workflows based on client briefs and inline with department best practices.
Define how work will be split between FX leads if there are more than one
Working with the FX HOD to map out and instigate good working practices and methodologies for your team
Mentor FX TDs, in order to build up the level of the overall team. Setting a positive example of professionalism which they can learn from
Work with production teams to ensure that the bidding and scheduling of FX work is accurate.
Create natural (and unnatural) phenomena utilising simulations in particles, rigid-bodies, fluids etc. and other procedural or stochastic systems.
Supervise FX look-development using lighting, shading and compositing.
Use a variety of commercial and proprietary FX tools to produce FX elements.
Work in partnership with other departments to ensure that the design and execution of setups and shots is delivered to the highest possible standard.
Delivering sequences/shots within a show, on time and to the required high spec. This includes staying on top of weekly targets and deliveries
Will review work, whether a dailies session or desk review, before passing it to the VFX/CG Supervisor for review
Bidding new FX for new shots or re-bidding. Either along with show production and/or FX HOD
At least 1 year experience leading or supervising a high end VFX show
Exceptional team management and organisational skills

An excellent knowledge of Houdini
A thorough understanding of the techniques and technologies relating to FX simulation and procedural animation
Previous experience producing effects such as smoke, fire, water and explosions in addition to simulation techniques for rigid-bodies, finite elements, PBD etc.
Experience with procedural workflows & techniques
A good understanding of media aesthetics - e.g. image composition, detail, animation and timing, etc.
Strong experience within a film pipeline environment
Strong collaboration and communication skills within a team environment, able to foster a team-feel and sense of involvement within the team
A working knowledge of at least one compositing application (e.g. Nuke) and a solid understanding of the compositing process
