This is a full-time staff role with benefits and working on a hybrid work model with some days in office and some days remote, ideal candidates will be based locally in Chicago, but open to discussing a fully remote agreement for the right individual.
Working in a generalist capacity to solve creative problems and develop tools and techniques to drive the style and look of projects under the direction and supervision of department leadership
Blend creative execution with technical know-how ranging from look development to FX simulation and Compositing
Troubleshooting projects when they are challenged, working with the Creative Director, producers, supervisors and fellow artists to deliver projects on time and with superior quality
Able to manage time effectively and give accurate assessments of the workload and the time required to complete tasks
A thorough working knowledge of Houdini
Demonstrable experience of look development, lighting and rendering, procedural modeling and animation, fur, feathers, fluids and dynamics
An excellent working knowledge of Arnold and additionally Mantra
Knowledge & understanding of CG related mathematics & rendering implementation/optimization
Ability to manage complex scenes and large data sets
Scripting experience - VEX and Python. Knowledge of C++ and the HDK a plus
Familiarity with pipeline issues and Linux
High level ability to produce great looking imagery across a range of styles; from photo real CG composited against live action through to stylized fully CG work
Working knowledge of at least one compositing application (ideally Nuke) and a solid understanding of the compositing process
Basic knowledge of Maya (advanced knowledge considered a plus)
Mari, Photoshop, PfTrack or 3DEqualizer experience a plus
On set supervision and data capture experience a plus
Commercial experience including being able to quote timescale and bid for projects appropriately would be an advantage
Ability to lead a commercial/team
Strong communication skills are critical. Must be able to work within a team, taking direction and exercising attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment
Must be self-motivated, a team player and organized
Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks
Able and willing to follow direction and openly collaborate with others
Ability to work well under pressure and open to working flexible hours
