Job description

Our Pipeline department engineers technology which facilitates efficient artist workflows and cross-departmental data flows for a wide range of VFX projects. They collaborate closely with each production department to ensure they have the efficiencies that keep the crew focused on working their magic.

We are seeking to recruit a Pipeline Technical Director to join the team to form a Pipeline presence in the expanding Mumbai office, initially focussing on supporting a wide range of pipeline workflows and the technology backend, and increasingly collaborating on some of the larger development projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintenance of tools and backend technology including troubleshooting, configuration, and deploying fixes

  • Further development to existing software and workflows

  • Working with the global Pipeline department to ensure workflow alignment and to apply improvements across the company

  • Working in collaboration with supervisors and department leads to determine the best solutions

  • Thorough documentation of all development and changes

  • Engage in global Pipeline discussions, representing the needs of the Mumbai site

  • Designing and engineering new solutions

  • Ongoing research to recommend improvements to workflows

  • Report to Pipeline leads for development priorities and for feedback on site based challenges

Job requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent Python and Linux skills

  • Experience developing tools for a 3D application such as Maya or Houdini

  • Experience developing tools for a 2D application such as Nuke

  • Ability to contribute to a large software development project

  • Ability to diagnose issues in complex and technologically broad systems

  • Problem solving abilities

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Detail orientated with a strong ability to multitask

  • A good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting through to compositing

  • An understanding of networking and performance issues that arise with large VFX projects, or large cloud-based systems

  • Familiarity with modern development tools and processes such as working within sprints, ticket tracking, Git/GitLab/GitHub, code reviews, CI/CD, and regression testing

 

Desirable Skills:

  • 5+ Years visual effects production experience

  • A degree in Computer Science

  • Windows development experience

  • Database maintenance and integration experience

  • Development in other languages such as C or Javascript
