Crowd TD

Job description

Method Studios’ film and episodic teams are integrating with Framestore as part of an exciting plan to offer innovative, best-in-class visual effects animation from four continents.

Method’s Montreal, Melbourne and Vancouver studios are in the process of being integrated with Framestore, and we hope to have this work fully completed by March 2022.

For the time-being your contract and recruitment contact will depend on which studio you apply for, but wherever you are based we look forward to welcoming you to the Framestore family.

Method Vancouver is looking for a Crowd TD to join our amazing team. As a Crowd TD at Method Studios, you will be responsible for creating photorealistic crowds using Golaem, in Maya. In this role, you will:

  • Use Method's Maya/Golaem crowd system to design, create, and implement show specific crowd layouts, QC, and supply to lighting;
  • Have an advanced ability to organize and maintain data, as crowd shots are often complex;
  • Work within the Method pipeline to publish assets, tools, and scripts as prescribed;
  • Manage disk space to fit within quota;
  • Follow the creative direction of the production communicated by your supervisors;
  • Display the ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines;
  • Solve technical problems, and/or communicate effectively to the crowd department.

  • Good artistic skills;
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas;
  • Ability to take directions and adaptable to change;
  • Skill at improvising and problem-solving.

It would also be helpful if you had:

  • Knowledge of motion editing software, Motionbuilder;

  • Experience in motion capture;

  • Linux and Windows experience;

  • Tool building and scripting knowledge (Python, hscript, mel, bash);

  • Knowledge of Nuke.
