Data Operation Manager

Job description

The Data Operations Manager Canada is responsible for the smooth running of the data operations within the department. The person is responsible for standardizing and maintaining workflows, but also develops and reports tools to Production teams and VFX Supervisors to drive the maximum efficiency of the data availability and accessibility.

The Data Operations Manager will oversee the Montreal and Vancouver Data operation team. The role also required to work closely with Production, TDs, Supervisors and HoDs in order to ensure upcoming resources availability to optimize production deliveries. The incumbent will be managing a team of Data-Operators.


  • Liaises with production, supervisors & CG manager to ensure smooth delivery of client packages

  • Monitor data ingestion (sourceplate & references), files conversion

  • Ensure data availability: syncs, cleanups, archive

  • Monitor, Forecast and Manage storage usage

  • Ongoing research to recommend workflows improvements

  • Writing Data Operation tools for use across Framestore shows

  • Work with TDs teams to help develop tools to support production

  • Thorough documentation of all development and updating as necessary

  • Maintains team cohesion & schedule

  • Escalation point for Render-Support

Job requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Linux

  • Strong experience with coding

  • Experience with data analysis

  • Problem solving abilities and self motivation

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to prioritise production needs and tasks

  • Detail oriented with strong ability to multitask

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Python

  • Experience with team management

  • Knowledge of render-farms and pipeline

  • Experience with Maya, Nuke and/or Houdini

  • A good understanding of the entire visual effects process
