Our award winning Animation department is looking to grow the Facial Animation team to allow our characters & creatures to express their emotions the best way possible!
A key part of the role is to help decode HMC or witness camera footage into the appropriate FACS Action Units to build profiles for facial motion capture software. This process is part of a group effort in collaboration with the facial modelling and facial rigging teams
Working across a wide array of performing and talking creatures, human (oid) characters and animals of vastly differing facial physiognomies
Cleanly translate facial expressions of the actors into the correct sequence of the FACS based facial blendshapes.
A deep understanding of FACS a la Paul Ekman and facial anatomy is required
The ideal candidate has worked on the facial animation of a wide array of performing and talking creatures, human (oid) characters and animals of vastly differing facial physiognomies
Successful candidates have an excellent understanding of phonemes and their FACS based building blocks as well as their contextual differences depending on the spoken phrases' tonality and rhythm
Love for facial animation and an interest to solve the associated artistic and technical challenges together with the other involved departments on hero characters for major feature films
Interest in helping to further build up knowledge about FACS and related animation approaches in the existing animation teams together with the other department's facial stakeholders
Excellent communication and time management skills
Ideal candidates have a proven track record of 5+ years experience in facial animation in feature film in a similar role
