We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer to join the global Systems Engineering development team. The role’s focus is the development of global Microsoft Windows services at Framestore and how they integrate with the larger more established Linux infrastructure. The successful candidate will be working in a DevOps/SRE role in an Agile team that is also the most senior (level3) point of escalation for systems support requests. The role will initially involve the development of Windows services but over time it will require knowledge of Linux to help with global integration projects and service deployments. The ideal candidate will have a desire to use existing skills as much as learning new ones.

You will report to the head of the department and will work closely with technical teams in the Systems Engineering department and collaborate with engineers from other technology groups.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive forward the development of Microsoft infrastructure with a focus on Active Directory and Windows Orchestration and Management technologies.

  • Develop Microsoft infrastructure to accommodate the growing diverse mix of on-premises, cloud, and remote workloads.

  • Working with Global development teams to continue the integration of Microsoft servers and workstations into a predominantly Linux environment.

  • Help develop Windows application deployment and management services

  • Manage and support existing Windows environment with a focus on stability and security

  • Mentor Systems Engineering staff on Microsoft OS Administration and best practices.

  • Help to develop policies and formal documentation for systems and processes.

  • Provide an escalation point for Microsoft related systems support issues

  • Lead Windows maintenance and automation projects and initiatives.

  • Research and evaluate emerging relevant technologies and services.

  • Construction and workflow required to maintain a test domain deployment

Job requirements

Required Skillset:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a Microsoft Systems Engineering role.

  • Extensive experience with Active Directory design, architecture, and management for enterprise-scale deployments.

  • Extensive knowledge of Windows deployment and Application management systems

  • MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) or MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) or equivalent certifications.

  • Scripting knowledge for automation (Batch, Powershell, and Python).

  • Expertise in deploying and maintaining business-critical applications and solutions.

  • Experience with GIT, Scrum/Agile methodology, and working within CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with WDS, WSUS, MDT, Ansible or Puppet or PowerShell DSC

  • Desired Skillset:

  • Experience with Chocolatey

  • Experience of working with Jira, Confluence

  • Experience with maintaining, migrating, and supporting cloud-based deployments

  • Experience with cloud-based solutions around compute, storage and network

  • Experience with VMware and Linux based infrastructure

  • Experience with LDAP, SSSD SAMBA and Kerberos

  • Experience with Docker container and Kubernetes

  • Experience with SSO services (OKTA, Auth0)

  • Experience with Epic Games Unreal Engine

At present, the initial role will be remote only due to the current pandemic.

Once all London Services return to normal then the role will be an onsite one so ideally, the candidate needs to be able to commute into Central London easily.
