Our pre-production services division enables filmmakers and showrunners to make early-stage, creative decisions that can then guide their entire production. We have over a hundred creatives, technologists and producers working across concept art, previsualisation, virtual production, in-camera VFX, techvis and postvis.

This unique pool of world-class minds and skills allows us to serve as true creative collaborators, whether the production in question requires initial character design, logistical assistance for a single complex sequence or a ‘beginning to end’ offer that begins with concept art and culminates in our award-winning final VFX.

The Role


The Senior Virtual Production TD is responsible for the fluent running of virtual camera and virtual scouting sessions and/or virtual production stages for acquiring in-camera VFX. They are responsible for assembling scenes for virtual scouting and virtual camera shoots, as well as being a key stakeholder in the continuous development of the VP pipeline. Work can be on set or remote with requirements for travel on a show basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the VP supervisor with day to day tasks, development and sessions

  • Lead and train junior members of the team

  • Data management as per Framestore’s folder structure and templates

  • Ensure and maintain hardware is correctly set up and calibrated

  • Deliver within schedule to meet deadlines

  • Have an advanced understanding of tool development within Unreal Engine and be able to understand and implement complex systems for use within the VP team. Perforce experience.

  • Independently running internal and external VP shoots from inside FPS and the wider company - across the stages of pre,shoot and post, relaying information back to the required sources.

  • Good understanding of camera, lens packages and general understanding of cinematography.

  • Independently work with the development teams on set tasks to improve the toolset for VP products.

  • Intermediate mocap knowledge to be able to run, process and deliver a mocap session.

Job requirements



Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of Unreal and systems within the engine related to Realtime

  • Experience with nDisplay / LED Shows for ICVFX or interactive lighting

  • Good knowledge of Cinematography/Photography

  • Good Experience with VR/Virtual Camera equipment

  • Excellent knowledge of Blueprints within Unreal Engine

  • Experience with basic C++ within Unreal Engine

  • Experience setting up/maintaining Perforce

  • Intermediate- to advanced-level user of Maya and/or Houdini

  • Great time management

  • On set experience required

  • Desired: Previous experience in film, TV or games
