Join our dynamic and collaborative payroll team as a Senior Payroll & Benefits Analyst! This position reports to the Senior Payroll Manager and will co-lead the payroll process to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll execution. You’ll play a critical role in managing payroll system administration for benefits, billing reconciliation, compliance, reporting, and year-end tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
Process bi-weekly payroll runs, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
Maintain the Payroll Tracker spreadsheet to monitor payroll changes, adjustments, and processing statuses.
Validate all payroll elements, including earnings, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, and other adjustments.
Perform payroll reconciliations.
Administer statutory leaves and ROEs.
Answer employee inquiries related to pay.
Benefits Coordination in Payroll System
Maintain benefit plans and deduction configurations in the payroll system (benefits administration handled by HR).
Ensure accurate reflection of benefit-related deductions and employer contributions.
Conduct monthly reconciliation of payroll-related benefits billing (e.g., insurance premiums, pension contributions).
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in coordination with HR, vendors, or Finance.
Partner with HR on benefit updates and policy changes impacting payroll.
Analysis & Reporting
Work hand-in-hand with Operations, Finance, and HR for regular and ad hoc payroll-related reporting.
Prepare reports for internal stakeholders and support financial reporting, budgeting, and audit activities.
Perform monthly reconciliation of vacation balances and TOIL (time off in lieu).
Analyze payroll data to identify trends, errors, or improvement areas.
Year-End Activities
Support mid-year Year-End reconciliations.
Prepare and support year-end processes (e.g., T4 slips, summaries, reconciliations).
Ensure all tax benefits and payroll deductions are mapped correctly and appear in the appropriate boxes on T4 and RL-1 slips.
Compliance, Training & Audit Support
Ensure payroll adheres to Canadian and provincial labor, tax, and employment standards.
Stay current on legislative changes and apply updates in the payroll system promptly.
Collaborate with the payroll team on system updates, testing, and implementation of new payroll projects to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Maintain and update all internal payroll processes and related documentation to reflect current practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct UKG annual refresher training and onboarding for new hires.
Provide support documentation for yearly external payroll audits.
Maintain audit-ready documentation and detailed payroll records.
Assist with other administrative payroll tasks as needed throughout the year.
