About the role

As a key figure in driving the creative and technical direction of the 2D department, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality visual effects across various productions. 


This role allows you to lead a skilled Compositing team, ensuring that the highest standards of work are met and that the overall objectives set by Framestore are achieved.




What you’ll do

  • Leadership & Team Management: Oversee the compositing team, ensuring the quality of work and fostering a motivated, collaborative, and enthusiastic team environment.

  • Project Management: Collaborate closely with production to bid, schedule, and assign tasks, while managing timelines and ensuring project-specific requirements are met.

  • Quality Control: Ensure the compositing work meets the highest creative and technical standards, working with the Visual Effects Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and Producer to monitor and manage each shot.

  • Collaboration: Work proactively and harmoniously with all departments to solve artistic and technical challenges across various sequences and shots.

  • Creative & Technical Balance: Guide the team through difficult compositing challenges, balancing artistic vision with technical execution to deliver stunning visuals.

  • Technical Management: Work closely with the CG Supervisor and Production to set up and maintain new and current shows including but not limited to Colour pipeline and show formats. 

Job requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership role within a compositing team, demonstrating strong artist management skills.

  • VFX Compositing Expertise: Deep understanding of the film VFX process, pipeline, and techniques.

  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Nuke, along with other compositing software. Familiarity with OCIO and programming skills in Python a plus.

  • Compositing Showreel: A beautiful, high-quality compositing showreel demonstrating your technical abilities and critical eye for detail.

  • Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.

  • Composed Under Pressure: Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality under tight deadlines.

  • Organisational Skills: Highly organised with a keen ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.




You might also have

  • On-set VFX supervision experience

  • Python programming experience

  • Experience in stereoscopic projects (native and post-stereo)
