The multi-Oscar-winning creative Film & Episodic Studio at Framestore, has worked with some of the greatest storytellers in film today. As a Department Manager at Framestore, you will play a vital role in building, supporting, and retaining top-tier talent across our artist and production teams for VFX projects. You'll ensure projects are appropriately resourced, coordinate cross-functional communication, and manage departmental operations with a focus on efficiency and people-first leadership.

What you’ll do

Resource Management

  • Partner with Heads of Department, Producers, and Supervisors to allocate the best internal talent to VFX projects, optimising crew assignments across multiple shows to maximize efficiency, manage multi-site communication between other global divisions to assist the Head of Resourcing, and ensure unallocated crew can be utilised.

Planning and Scheduling

  • Support the Head of Department in building balanced project teams considering expertise, experience, and budget, allocating and planning for upcoming project demands, induction and staff development.

Strategic Recruitment

  • Identify hiring needs, advising on remuneration and collaborating with the recruitment team to bring in the right talent.

Project Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact between the department and show production teams regarding the progress of the work, maintaining ongoing communication with show coordinators and line producers regarding resource availability and shifting priorities.

People Leadership

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment, promoting high morale through regular team check-ins, social events, and team-building activities. Advise on contractual matters, project assignments, development, and training, proactively addressing concerns and supporting wellbeing.

Performance and Development

  • Create a culture of feedback alongside the Head of Department, offering transparency and developmental opportunities, partnering with the training team to ensure crew members’ learning and growth needs are met, engage in pay negotiations and maintain pay parity within our teams

Department Operations

  • Lead department meetings, maintain scheduling targets, and contribute to process improvements and ensure smooth interdepartmental workflow and consistent communication.

Job requirements

  • You’ve worked in scheduling and resourcing in a Production or VFX environment - a big plus if you’re experienced with VFX and CG pipelines!

  • You’re a problem-solver who’s great at allocating people and resources effectively.

  • You’re a pro at working across departments and have a track record of getting stakeholders on the same page.

  • You have experience with HR related tasks and know how to build strong teams with the right skills and the right culture.

  • You’re comfortable MS Office and/or Google Suite.

  • Effective communicator at all levels, with the ability to build good relationships.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure all documents and reports are maintained at the highest level.

  • Super detail-oriented—especially when it comes to resourcing and reporting.

  • Calm under pressure, reliable, and always a few steps ahead.

  • Highly organized and able to juggle multiple priorities.

  • Trustworthy and professional—you get things done with discretion and care.
