The Role

We are seeking a talented Compositor to join our Pre-Production Services department at Framestore for a short contract role. As a Compositor (Postvis), you will be responsible for seamlessly integrating visual effects elements into live-action footage to create high-quality post-visualisation work.

Your primary duties will include collaborating with the VFX Supervisor and other team members to achieve the desired visual effects for pre-visualisation projects. You will work closely with artists and producers to ensure timely delivery of postvis shots that meet the project's creative and technical requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for visual storytelling. Proficiency in industry-standard compositing software and a solid understanding of visual effects pipelines are essential for this role.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the VFX Supervisor and team members to achieve project goals

  • Create high-quality postvis shots that meet creative and technical requirements

  • Working in the capacity of a compositor, to evaluate the creative and technical approach to assigned shots

  • Taking briefs and direction from client feedback and Postvis Supervisors to execute assigned shots

  • Integrating 2D, 3D and live-action elements to high-end visual effects postvis standards

  • Working with elements to create look dev solutions

  • Ongoing communication with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines

  • Taking responsibility for own workload, time management and notes/feedback actions required by Supervisors

  • Balancing the creative and technical aspects of each shot

  • Meeting schedules and show deadline

Job requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent working knowledge of and production experience with Nuke

  • A good knowledge of both prep artist workflows and Nuke compositing tools and techniques

  • Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills

  • A pro-active and collaborative work ethic

  • A strong eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting

  • The ability to multitask, prioritise and problem solve

  • An ability to deliver continuous changes for a task in a fast paced environment

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of practical lighting for photography

  • Working knowledge of the overall VFX pipeline

  • Experience in dealing and communicating with clients

  • Knowledge of Nuke scripting languages

  • Programming and coding experience
