Please note this is a speculative role. If we move to hire, the position will be hybrid and require days in our London studio as well as potential international travel. We cannot provide visas or UK relocation for this position, as it will be a 6 month contract role.

About the role
Framestore is looking for a Game Environment Artist to join our Immersive team, working at the intersection of world-building, technology, and real-time storytelling. This role is ideal for an experienced environment artist with strong Unreal Engine knowledge, who enjoys building performant real-time environments as much as crafting stunning level art.
You’ll work closely with Developers, Artists, and our Production teams to bring the level of polish seen in our Film and TV work into real-time experiences. From location-based entertainment and theme parks to VR and interactive projects, you’ll help shape how environments live and breathe in-engine.
You’ll focus on level art, set dressing, texturing, and optimisation, while supporting the tools and workflows that enable artists across the division to do their best work. You’ll balance performance and artistic intent, troubleshoot complex problems, and collaborate closely with Asset Builders to integrate characters and props seamlessly into the environment.
What you’ll do
Create high-quality 3D assets directly in Unreal Engine and in external DCCs like Maya or Houdini.
Model high-poly, hard-surface, and organic forms, as well as create textures and shaders.
Develop lookdev assets in Unreal Engine, creating photoreal elements optimised for VR and immersive workflows.
Focus on PBR workflows, realistic lighting, and performance optimisation.
Build high-quality, photoreal environments using bespoke kits and marketplace content for level design.
Craft high-quality light rigs for realistic and cinematic content.
Collaborate with the Immersive team to benchmark, optimise, and enhance performance in Unreal scenes, profiling hardware including GPU, CPU, and Network capabilities.
Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation of workflows, processes, and tools.
