Job description

Please note this position is hybrid and requires regular days in our London studio as well as potential travel, so we cannot accommodate fully remote working.

This role is an ASAP start and contract position; we cannot provide VISAs or UK relocation so please only apply if you are already able to work in the UK.

Framestore brings together world-class producers, artists, and technologists to craft visually striking work across advertising, episodic, and immersive productions. Our teams blend creative ingenuity with cutting-edge technology to deliver high-end visual effects, immersive storytelling, and premium content for global clients, brands, and broadcasters.

Framestore combines talent and technology to bring life to everything we create. Driven by creativity and inspired by the future, we set out every day to reframe the possible.

The Role

As a Visual Development Artist, you’ll lead creative exploration and problem-solving during the early stages of a project. You'll sit within the Visual Development team, using a mix of traditional 2D workflows and modern generative tools to define the look of our most ambitious work.

We're looking for an artist who thrives on experimentation and enjoys collaborating with others in a fast-paced environment. This role is perfect for someone who can bridge the gap between initial concepting and final VFX execution.

What you’ll do:

  • Create high-end visual development imagery across styles ranging from realistic to stylised

  • Use 2D tools like Nuke and ComfyUI as a core part of your daily workflow

  • Integrate generative tools into creative workflows to explore and iterate on visual ideas

  • Collaborate closely with artists and supervisors to ensure the visual development phase supports a smooth transition into the 2D/3D pipeline

  • Present your work and creative process clearly in small group settings and client reviews

  • Experiment with emerging technologies to keep our workflows at the cutting edge

Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

Someone with strong professional experience in a VFX environment, with a particular focus on Nuke compositing. A creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills, comfortable experimenting with new tools, techniques, and workflows. Open-minded and communicative, with the ability to clearly break down and explain their creative process, and confident in presenting work and ideas to others. They have a genuine interest in generative tools and how these can support creative development, and are respectful of different working styles, including varying levels of process sharing.

You might also have:

  • Experience with 3D packages like Blender

  • Familiarity with real-time engines, especially Unreal Engine

  • Knowledge of scripting or technical problem-solving using Python
