Full-time, Permanent position

Level: L2


As a multi Oscar-winning creative studio, we have worked with some of the greatest storytellers in film today. Collaborating with directors and producers across the complete filmmaking process to help design, plan and create beautiful images, we focus on finding innovative creative solutions to support their vision and set new standards for visual effects in cinema.


The Systems team is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting the technology infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to, storage, networking, workstations and rendering. It also includes the various software elements around both the core operating system(s) and the various application layer components that are deployed upon that framework.


As part of the Systems Canada L2 team, you will support and mentor the Systems Canada L1 team. You are encouraged to propose and work on (and sometimes lead) projects that will advance the technology framework. This includes elements of project management, communication across other departments, and influence/lead the delegation of tasks/manage and coordination of schedules.

The 3 must-haves

  • Direct experience in a fast-paced production environment using Redhat-based OS for both workstation and server.

  • You have a strong approach to problem-solving and a deep understanding of project management.

  • You value teamwork and have exceptional collaboration and communication skills.


The day-to-day in short

  • Ensure systems run reliably, plan for and implement upcoming requirements and respond to service outages or other complex systems-related problems

  • System performance optimisation

  • Scripting and light programming

  • Actively mentor and assist in the technical development of the L1 team

  • Partake in an on-call rotation, providing out-of-hours support in case of a show-stopping issue.

Job requirements

Expert knowledge and opportunity to learn the following technology

  • Configuration Management

  • NIS, NFS, autofs administration

  • VMWare and/or virtual server environment administration

  • Active Directory Management

  • Scripting language (tcsh, bash, python, perl, ruby)

  • Postgres and/or MySQL database management

Framestore British-Colombia Region Pay Range Information:

The salary range* for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 CAD annually, plus benefits and overtime if applicable. Your actual compensation within the range will depend upon your skills, experience, qualifications, geographic locations, and our internal equity to ensure fair pay.


*Please note that the salary range for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region. Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary range may differ depending on the work location. *Framestore is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation.
