The multi-Oscar-winning creative Film & Episodic studio, at Framestore has worked with some of the greatest storytellers in film today. Collaborating with directors and producers across the complete filmmaking process to help design, plan and create beautiful images, we focus on finding innovative creative solutions to support their vision and set new standards for visual effects in cinema.

Framestore combines talent and technology to bring life to everything we create. Driven by creativity and inspired by the future, we set out every day to reframe the possible.

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Officer to manage the end-to-end payroll function for our Australian business, supporting approximately 350 employees. This role is available on a full-time basis or as a 4-day week. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our payroll operations while leading significant projects, including the transition to Pay Day Super and the implementation of a new payroll system.

Reporting to the HR Manager and working closely with Finance, you’ll manage the end-to-end cycle in partnership with our outsourced provider, ensuring that every one of our team members is paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with Australian law

What you’ll do

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 350 employees, ensuring accuracy.

  • Ensure total legislative compliance across Australian payroll, including taxation, record-keeping, Pay Day Super implementation, and monthly/annual State-based Payroll Tax lodgements.

  • Act as the primary lead for the selection and rollout of a new payroll system, overseeing data migration and process design while maintaining data hygiene within the HRIS (Hibob).

  • Oversee leave liability and financial reporting by reconciling entitlements, calculating State-based Long Service Leave, and providing data for FBT and workers' compensation renewals.

  • Support the full employee lifecycle by administering employment contracts, onboarding paperwork, salary adjustments, and internal transfers alongside the HR team.

  • Deliver data-driven insights by maintaining HR metrics on trends, exit data, and operational reports.

Job requirements

Who you are

  • You bring at least 3 years of end-to-end Payroll experience, ideally with a business of 50-1000 people.

  • You have a nuanced understanding of STP, FBT, and Salary Packaging

  • You are comfortable navigating the complexities of state-based legislation and novated leases.

  • You enjoy optimising the tools you use. If you’ve worked with HiBob or navigated a system implementation before, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to apply that knowledge here.

  • You take pride in accuracy, whether it’s auditing data or reconciling leave liabilities to provide Finance with clear, reliable figures.

  • You collaborate with both HR and Finance, helping to bridge the gap between people-centric goals and data-driven requirements.

  • Deep understanding of Australian payroll legislation, compliance, and the ability to manage complex reconciliations or year-end finalisations.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage changing priorities and system implementations under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative ethic, capable of communicating professionally with stakeholders at all levels while maintaining high discretion.

  • \A methodical approach to problem-solving and a flexible mindset, with a relevant payroll qualification or interest in the visual effects sector being a plus.

Why choose us?

  • You will play a central role in an upcoming system implementation, directly influencing our long-term workflow.

  • Your time will be split between technical payroll auditing, HR administration, and generating meaningful reporting insights.

  • You’ll join a team where HR and Finance work closely together, ensuring you have the support and context you need to succeed.
